Health Guarantee

At Wee Little Bassets, we take pride in raising healthy, happy puppies. Each puppy comes with a health guarantee covering life-threatening congenital or genetic conditions until the puppy reaches 6 months of age.

To maintain this guarantee:

  • The buyer must take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian for a complete health exam within 7 days of receiving the puppy.
  • If the buyer does not complete this exam within the required timeframe, the guarantee becomes null and void.
  • If any concerning findings arise during the exam, the buyer must notify the breeder within 48 hours and provide documentation from the veterinarian.
  • Any condition must be confirmed and documented by two licensed veterinarians to qualify under this guarantee.

Please note:

The breeder is not responsible for injuries sustained during transportation or after the puppy is received, reactions to vaccinations, medications, or flea/tick preventatives, or for conditions caused by environmental factors, parasites, bacteria, allergies, thyroid, or autoimmune diseases.

In the unlikely event a puppy is diagnosed with a serious, life-threatening genetic or congenital condition within the 6-month guarantee period, the breeder is not responsible for medical expenses, but will consider offering either:

  1. A replacement puppy when one becomes available, or
  2. A possible refund of the purchase price.
    The breeder and buyer will discuss and determine the best resolution together.

This guarantee does not cover:

  • Common bacterial or stress-related conditions such as giardia, coccidia, or kennel cough.
  • Common breed-related issues including skin allergies, ear infections, bloat, Panosteitis, entropion, or cherry eye.

We proudly guarantee against only genetically testable conditions for Basset Hounds, including:

  • Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (Basset Hound Type)
  • Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease, X-Linked (Basset Hound Type)
  • Thrombopathia (Basset Hound Type)
